Engines Warming: The Cape 1000 Confirms March 2027 Dates and Unveils Official Poster

Following a memorable 2026 event, the celebrated regularity rally will return with a new Saturday start, continued charity commitments, and the backing of Private Clients by Old Mutual.

Cape Town, Western Cape – The organisers of the Cape 1000 have confirmed that South Africa’s most beautiful drive will return to the roads of the Western Cape from 20 to 25 March 2027. In a first for the event, the regularity rally will flag off on a Saturday, giving participants and spectators a weekend start to the journey.

The announcement follows a 2026 edition that delivered a bit of everything – sunshine, rain, wind, and plenty of oysters. From aerobatics overhead on the West Coast, to Craig Hinds performing at registration, the warmth of the participants and the camaraderie forged on the road made it abundantly clear that the story of the Cape 1000 is far from over.

“The best motoring events are never just about the cars, even when the metal on display is this spectacular,” says Vanessa Crichton, Event Director of the Cape 1000. “It is the spirit of the people inside them and the friendships made along the route. After the wonderful, unpredictable weather and the sheer joy of the 2026 event, we knew we had to bring this community back together. The engines are already warming for 2027.”

The Art of the Automobile, the visual identity of the 2027 event has also been revealed, with the official poster created by past Cape 1000 participant and artist Tony Crampton. Known for his collection, The Art of the Automobile, Crampton draws on the magic of the seventies, using bold colours, dynamic shapes, and the beautiful imperfections of paint drippings to give his work a distinct retro soul. The 2027 centrepiece features the achingly beautiful Ferrari Dino set against the unmistakable silhouette of Table Mountain.

Giving Back on the road, beyond the driving, the Cape 1000 remains committed to its community. Thanks to the generosity of the 2026 participants and partners, approximately R350,000 was raised collectively for the QuadPara Association of South Africa and the Motorsport Legends Benevolent Fund. Both organisations will return as official charity partners for 2027, with the organisers setting their sights on matching and surpassing that remarkable total.

While the Cape 1000 remains the flagship event, the organising team has also confirmed the international expansion of its broader touring programme.

Le Voyage, a curated luxury driving-and-dining experience, will head to the Scottish Highlands in May 2027, offering a completely different pace for those who prefer their grand touring with ancient castles and single-track roads.

The Cape 1000 is a curated multi-day driving event held in South Africa’s Western Cape, bringing together a community of motoring enthusiasts for a celebration of classic and characterful cars, scenic roads, and shared hospitality. The 2027 edition will take place from 20 to 25 March 2027. The partnership with Private Clients by Old Mutual is confirmed for 2027. Registrations will open in June 2026.
