9 May 2026 – The Gear Up Girl Event, hosted at Group 1 Auto Chery Kuilsriver in collaboration with XLNT Panelbeaters, proved to be an inspiring and purpose-driven gathering focused on empowering women through knowledge, confidence, and practical support.
Designed to support women from all walks of life – including professionals, entrepreneurs, mothers, and individuals navigating independent mobility – the event created a welcoming platform where attendees could engage with industry experts and gain valuable insights into vehicle ownership, road safety, and personal empowerment.
The event covered several important topics aimed at equipping women with the tools and confidence needed to make informed decisions on and off the road, including:
- Personal safety and informed decision-making
- What to do after an accident
- Understanding insurance and avoiding common pitfalls
- Choosing the right vehicle for different lifestyles
- Building confidence for women driving independently
What made the event particularly impactful was the collaboration between key sectors including the automotive industry, insurance professionals, and the ECD sector, creating a holistic support ecosystem focused on practical guidance and empowerment for women.
With close to 80 attendees from various sectors, the event was exceptionally well supported and highlighted the growing demand for initiatives that educate and uplift women within the motoring space.
Representatives from the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) were also in attendance, showing their support for initiatives that positively contribute to the automotive industry and community development.
Following the success of the event, the organisers have indicated that they would like to host similar events on a more regular basis. There is certainly much excitement around what future Gear Up Girl gatherings may bring.
