On the morning of 3rd August 2024, Cape Town showed off its true beauty with good weather, the sun shining brightly over Montague Gardens as the sound of revving engines filled the air. It was a special day for bikers in Cape Town, as Harley Haven – a social riders club – and Westcoast Motorcycles collaborated to host an event for motorcycle enthusiasts. 95 Bikers arrived at Westcoast Motorcycle Rental, eager to spend the day surrounded by like-minded individuals.
As the bikers parked their impressive machines in the designated area, there was a sense of camaraderie in the air. The love for motorcycles was apparent on the faces of everyone present, as they mingled and shared stories of present and past adventures. Some had been riding for decades, while others were newer to the scene, but all shared a passion for the open road and the freedom that came with it.
The event kicked off with a performance by the talented South African artist, Christo Lotz, whose voice resonated through the crowd. With the attendees enjoying the festive atmosphere that had been created, they were treated to prego rolls from the food stalls keeping the bikers fueled for the day ahead.
At 11am, the bikers gathered for the main event – a convoy ride to Grand West, one of Cape Town’s premier entertainment venues. The sight of 78 motorcycles lined up in formation was a sight to behold.
Arriving at Grand West, the bikers parked their motorcycles in neat rows, creating a stunning display for onlookers to admire. Spectators enjoyed a display of pure motorcycle genius. The sense of pride amongst the bikers was palpable as they stood alongside their bikes, eager to showcase their passion for the motorcycle world.
A screening of the movie “The Bike Riders” had been arranged, a film that celebrated the freedom and adventure of life on two wheels.
As the credits rolled and the lights came up, the bikers slowly dispersed, heading off in different directions but carrying with them the memories of a day well spent. Friendships had been formed, stories had been shared, and a sense of belonging had been solidified amongst the Harley Davidson community. It was a day that would be remembered for years to come, a day that had brought together people from all walks of life in celebration of a common love – the love of the open road and the thrill of the ride.
